Dear Artist, Write Your Letter!

Dear Artist,

I’m so happy you are considering contributing to the DEAR ARTIST project.

Below, I have prepared a few guidelines that might be helpful.

DEAR ARTIST – GUIDELINES

  1. Write a letter beginning with “Dear Artist…”. It can be a message of hope, support, or an insight from your personal experience navigating a career in the performing arts.

  2. Your letter does not need to tell your whole story.
Focus on something you’ve learned – something that helped you and might also help other artists. It could be words of advice, a way of thinking about yourself, reflections on the profession we always dreamed of, or thoughts on what’s important to you these days.

  3. I like to think of the DEAR ARTIST project as a digital archive that contributes to dismantling myths about working in the performing arts industry. Difficult or disturbing aspects of navigating life and career in theatre are more than welcome.

  4. Please sign your letter. You may use your name and, if you wish, add your role or profession. You may also add information about your Instagram or website.

  5. Once you submit your letter, please allow up to 14 days for review. By sending your letter, you consent to its publication on the project’s website.

Thank you for taking the time to reflect, to write, and to share your experience.
Your voice matters, and it may resonate with other artists more than you can imagine.

I look forward to reading your letter,

    Weronika Maria Kuśmider
creator of the Dear Artist project
